The Year Ahead

Cannot agree with you about cox, done alot of running and calling for ball but seem to panic then and took wrong option was unsure whether he would pass to another player or go for a score himself and him a seasoned player as a result ended in missed chances . all in all can only improve and hopefully it will because they players have worked very hard, and I am sure no one is more diappointed than themselves with yesterdays performance.

I wouldn't be too down on the performance. I would actually rate limerick quite highly and believe they will gain promotion. We competed well but the forwards weren't in control up front. You could see they haven't much ball work done but at this time of the year it is to be expected. The team could do with a bit of tweaking.
C. Beirne needs to be brought in at full forward as an earlier poster alluded to our need for presence in the full forward line and he is a genuine scoring threat. Young moran would also improve the forward line. They should have moved him in to full forward yesterday as he would have been more of a target man than what was there.
It was going in and coming back out but management weren't in tune with limericks tactic of having one of their midfielders sit clogging up our attacks which left it difficult for the forwards in fairness. With mulligan back soon our forward line will be improved and performances will be better. It's only the first league game.
We can still have a good campaign.

The defence coped well with the pressure that was at then ,midfield and most of the forwards were not at the races only for cox. He was the only outlet for the over worked defence..We need mc keon at wing back and driving forward, his passing was a joy to watch so put him back where is going forward not stuck at centre back

County team
Looks like another year stuck in sh*t D 4 after yesterdays show or no show should i say.
Hickey and Mc Gowan are good enough club players, well maybe above average club players but not sure about county.

Nine Points is not good enough scoring at this level! Egan at full back is a plus.

County team
The leitrim center back his passing of the ball was fantastic,he is wasted there and should be moved to midfield as he can unlock any defence with his passing. And it is time to drop the full forward clancy desperate again yesterday same as last year.

County team
From what I seen yesterday Leitrim management dont seemed to be interested in the league, the team's ball handling and passing was terrible and I can understand why. I was passing through Kinlough last Tuesday and decided to stop and watch the county senior's and 21's training, these were players from Melvin Gaels, Manor and Glenfarne and all they done was 50 yard sprints and throwing Medican balls over and back to each other, I was told that was all they do every Tuesday since Christmas. To me it's more important to get out of div 4 than win 1 championship match.

Oh Lord bless us. Poor stuff.
Regardless what anyones opinions are on mulligan at least he can put the ball dead from thirty yards. Every successful team needs a free taker, whether they are a passenger or not. And contrary to some supporters beliefs he is our most influential forward. R. Lowe was very good yesterday though however.

A poor match in Carrick on Shannon yesterday. Limerick were poor and with a display like that they will want to greatly improve. As for Leitrim I expected a little more from them. The full forward line were poor lots of chances but their finishing was a disgrace. I would expect better of a minor team. Maybe Barney and George should get them kicking balls because when a footballer isn't able to kick over the bar from 30 metres it shows the weakness they have. The backs were Ok in the first half, but were way of the marking in the second half and they let Limerick come tru them wit little resistance. I would like to see Colm Clarke and Paul Brennan switched as the latter is a half back and is a better man to tackle. Leitrim need a full forward as James Clancy has no big presence in around the opposition square. It is my opinion that Leitrim might loose all of there league matches for the exception of Kilkenny. I thought Barney Breen and George Dugdale weren't quick enough to make changes and when they did I thought Brennan should have been left on and maybe James Clancy off instead.

Best of luck to the lads today. It would be a great to get the league campaign off to a good start against a strong Limerick side. As for Fermanagh game being cancelled Leitrim gave the points to London as it wasnt going to affect the league table.

Mulligan has been a good player in the past ,but the team coped very well without him in the last three games .They are playing as a team and working for each other, and are fitter than they have been for a few years. Best of luck on sunday to all the lads.

FBD League 2012.
Hope management give Shane Moran and Conor Beirne a run out during the National League. Didn't feature in the FBD League but both fantastic players and an addition to the panel
