Having lost the last two county SFC finals, many managers would use that to motivate a team not to make it three in a row, but that won't be the case with Glencar/Manorhamilton manager Aidan Rooney.

The former county footballer is not one to dwell on the past and he revealed to the Leitrim Observer that they are always looking forward as they prepare for this weekend's decider against Mohill.

Rooney added that the calming approach is the one that he adopts ahead of games in order to get the best out of the players.

"To be honest, I'm not one of these managers hitting tables or throwing bottles around, it is all about the team," stated Rooney.

"Last year means nothing for this year. Do lads want to make up for last year? Of course they do, they talk about that but it is about the performance on Sunday. You can't make up for last year unless you play well next Sunday.

"So if you play well next Sunday, last year becomes insignificant. Whatever drives, floats your boat, to get that performance next Sunday, well and good."
