Gortletteragh GAA club notes

September 12, 2017

Senior Championship

Our senior status was secured for 2018 with a workmanlike performance over neighbours Bornacoola in the relegation playoff. A Jack Heslin goal set us on our way in the first half and we closed out the win with a flurry of late scores. Despite a disappointing campaign the effort and workrate from everyone involved in the panel from day one could not be faulted. There is a long break ahead to recoup and plan for 2018.

Thanks

Thanks very much to Ralph Lennon and staff of the Welcome Inn Cornageeha for providing refreshments for the players and supporters after the game, and for looking after us in this way many times this year, it's much appreciated

All Ireland Ticket Draw

Tickets for the All Ireland Raffle will be on sale right up until the draw in Fox's of Tooman this Friday night the 15th of September. Tickets on sale in local outlets, from players and committee members. Great way to be in with a chance of attending one of the most interesting finals in years. Please support.

Congratulations

To Samantha Harte who married her fiancee Trevor Shortt last weekend. Samantha has done sterling work with underage ladies football in the parish, and a former player herself also. We wish you both a lifetime of health and happiness

U13

On Saturday the 2nd of September our Under 13 team took on Annaduff away in round seven of the championship. Our lads put in another great team performance. Gortletteragh made the most of playing with a strong wind in the first half and led at the half time interval on a score line of 2-07 to 1-02. A strong comeback by Annaduff in the second half saw them come within one point of Gortletteragh. Our lads scored secured the vital score, their third goal of the game, which effectively ended the comeback. The final score in favour of Gortletteragh, in a hard fought battle, was 3-10 to 1-10. The team were: Riaghan Ward, Andrew Liu Doyle, Jack Reynolds, Mathew Davis, Dáire Heslin, Conor Niblock, Tom Crowe (Capt),  Brendan Naughton, Nathan Ward, Noah Mc Nulty, Cian Mc Nulty, Luke Mc Manus, Connor Fanning, Ciaran Reynolds, Jack Gannon, Adam Bohan, Oisin Maguire, David Liu Doyle, Jonathan Boyle, Ryan Fanning & Nathan Ryan.

U15

Our U15 went down to much stronger Fenagh side last Monday evening. We were down a lot of players. At time of going to print we will have played our Shield semi final vs Manorhamilton on Monday.
