Leitrim Connacht Champions!!

A massive well done to all of the Leitrim players, especially our own players, Wayne McKeon, Niall McGovern, Dean McGovern, Darren Maxwell, Phillip Farley and Brian Leydon. It was a fantastic result for Leitrim against a fancied Mayo Team winning by three points on the day , next up for the lads is an All-Ireland Semi Final on July 22nd Against the Munster Champions

We must also wish the lads the best of luck against London in this year senior championship opener against London which is on this Sunday in Ruislip, hopefully the lads can get us a much needed championship victory

Leitrim Hurlers

In what was a fantastic week for the county in Football, our hurlers could not be outdone qualifying for this year's Lory Meagher cup final, the first for Leitrim since 1983, Leitrim's 3:15 to 3:08 victory was enough to book a place in this year's final where they take on Warwickshire.

Ballinamore Hurling club was well represented on the day with Kevin O'Connor, Son of Paddy, a man that has done so much for hurling in the county, Morgan Quinn, Paul Earley and Fergal Earley, we would like to wish them all the best in the final, hopefully they can emulate the lads from 1983 Dermot O'Brien, Ciaran Mahon and Conor Harte and bring home the title.

Oughteragh Gaels into the Final

Oughteragh Gaels 3-12 St Francis' 2-7

A huge congratulations to the ladies who prevailed by 8 points in yet another titanic battle against regular (friendly!) rivals St Francis' in the Division 2 League Semi-Final. The ladies were ahead 2-5 to 1-2 at half-time and the girls were good value for at least that scoreline having put on an excellent display for the opening half-hour.

The second spell was a much more evenly contested affair but the brilliant Ciara McGoldrick popped up with a massive goal for us around the halfway mark - her second of the game and the third scored by a McGoldrick with sister Aoibhin powering home a cracking solo effort in the first half - which put the result beyond doubt.

Standout performers included first team debutante Grainne Prior who was pure class in the full back line, whilst Abbi Sweeney again impressed at wing back as she does each and every time. Aoibhin McGoldrick's power running from midfield was on another level and Emma McGovern, Siobhan Earley & Mary McWeeney all scored a couple of massive points from play. There are simply too many to mention and our county girls weren't that bad either!

Well done again to the ladies - they put it all on the line and, thankfully, got their rewards. We now await to see whether it's a date with Drumkeeran or Manorhamilton in the final! Whenever that game is, come out to support them. They deserve your support and cheers every bit as much as any other team.
