Mohill club notes

Recent Bereavements

On Friday last in Drogheda members of the Club formed a guard of honour at the funeral of former player Cormac Rowley. Cormac was a young man with a young family who fought a battle with cancer for the past six years. He fought it with a smile on his face for everyone. He never let his illness get him down, but made the most of every minute of every day. He had a deep love for his home town and in the last few years he attended all our finals and the   celebrations that followed. The Rowley family is still strongly represented on the playing field with Cillian, Rian and Cónal Walpole his nephews playing underage. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Brenda, his sons Odhran and Tiarnan, his mother Maureen, sisters Sandra, Aideen, Amanda and Geraldine and his large extended family. Ar Dheis Dé go  raibh a anam dílis.

The following day the guard of honour reassembled in Mohill to honour Eilish Gunningham mother of Asst. Sec. Therese Foy who passed away suddenly on Wednesday. Eilish was a member of the McGowan family that have ties with the Mohill Club since its foundation. We sympathise with Therese and Mel, her grandchildren Melissa and Paul as well as her sister Patsy, brothers Brendan and Liam. May she rest in Peace.

Dinner Dance

The Club Dinner Dance will take place in Rynn Castle Hotel on February 28 next. We have Leitrim's favourite band, Late Nite Radio playing, so a good night's entertainment is guaranteed. Tickets are now on sale from any club officer for €50. The Under 21 Championship and League Div1 medals will be presented on the night, so get your order in as soon as possible.

History Book

The History Book is getting good reviews at home and abroad. Available from any Club officer, in Baxters Centra, Pauls, Mulveys Carrick-on-Shannon and Eason Longford. It is now also on sale in New York at Clarkes Pub in Yonkers.

County Under 21

Leitrim beat Offaly in the Liam Hasting's Cup on Sat last and we had three reps on this team, Keith Beirne, Oisín Madden and Keith Keegan.

County Senior team

Nothing went right for these lads on Sunday last but hopefully things will get better next week when they meet Sligo. We had four reps on the team, Alan Armstrong, Ronan Gallagher, Caillin Canning and Keith Beirne.
