Juniors in A Championship Quarter Finals

Our Junior A team followed the lead of our Intermediates in qualifying for the quarter finals with two straight wins in succession. Having overcome Annaduff in the first round, they had a comprehensive win over Dromahair in the Park on Saturday evening. They had four points on the board before Dromahair got their first. Shane Murphy got three of those, two from frees and Andrew Burns got another. Before half-time Brian Leyden had got two more and Andrew Burns another and it was 0-7 to 0-1 at half-time. After the break we got a free about 20 metres out but from a difficult angle. Who stepped up to take it only Patrick McLoughlin. Had he ever taken a free before, we wondered. He brought the house down by pointing it. After that we couldn't lose, and we didn't. A succession of points followed. Three from Anthony McTague, and one each from Ryan Gavin, Patrick McLoughlin, Paul McLoughlin, Brian Leyden, Shane Murphy and Philip Murphy. It ended 0-17 to 0-5. Foireann; Darren Maxwell, James Hamill, Kevin O'Connor, Adam Goldrick, Mark O'Reilly, Jack Cullen, Philip Murphy (0-1), Joe Murphy, Paul McLoughlin (0-1), Andrew Burns (0-2), Anthony McTague (0-3), David McLoughlin, Shane Murphy (0-4), Brian Leyden (0-3), Paddy McLoughlin (0-2). Sub Ryan Gavin (0-1) for A Burns.

Draw in Junior B Championship with Fenagh

Our Junior B team had their first outing in the Junior B Championship in Páirc Sheáin Uí Loideáin on Sunday morning. This was certainly a game of two halves if ever there was one. We started great with a great goal from Rory O'Rourke and this was followed by two points from Seán McCartin and another from Ronan O'Rourke. Fenagh then came into the game and got three points in a row. However this was only a temporary blip and we got three more points, two from Ryan Gavin and a pointed 45 from Denis Dolan. We were totally in control and could have been more ahead than 1-6 to 0-3 at half time. For whatever season a totally different Fenagh team came out for the second half. They weren't playing with the wind or with the hill but whatever it was they devoured us and we were just lucky the final whistle came when it did. Only for a host of near misses and at least one great save form Cian McCaffrey, we were done for. With the score at 1-6 to 0-6 after 17 minutes and us holding on for dear life, Seán McCartin pointed a free and a hugely important one it was too. It was our only score of the second half and we seldom got the play past half way. It ended Seán O'Heslin's 1-7 Fíonach 0-10. Foireann: Cian McCaffrey, Brian Banks, Jason Kellett, Denis Dolan (0-1), Nathan Gallagher, Paddy McLoughlin, Darragh Murphy, Ryan Gavin (0-2), Tomás McLoughlin, Ronan O'Rourke (0-1), Rory O'Rourke (1-0), Seán McCartin (0-3), James Boyle, Adrian Smith, Adrian Gallogly. Sub; John Christie for J Boyle.

Minor B Championship

Our minors won their game against Rinn Gaels last week to make it two wins out of two. They won on a scoreline of 5-22 to 4-6

Fáilte ar ais - Thomas McLoughlin

In the times that's in it Pádraig McKeon did very well to field a third adult championship team and had a good turn out of players on duty on Sunday. It is especially good to see Thomas McLoughlin playing this year. Thomas hasn't played football since he suffered a serious injury in February 2008 while on holiday in France. He only started playing again earlier in the League and this was his first championship outing since 2007; all of nine years ago. He was in fine form and, along with Ryan Gavin, they formed a good midfield partnership. Fáilte ar ais a Thomáis

Draw for All Ireland Tickets

Tickets are now available for out annual underage draw with a first prize of two All Ireland Football Final tickets and accommodation in Dublin on the night before the game. Our underage players will be selling tickets for this outstanding prize and with the All Ireland Final between Dublin or Kerry and Mayo there should be great demand for those tickets. We would urge all sellers to get on the road straight away.
