Mohill club notes

November 16, 2015

Junior A Champions

Although the Cloone pitch held up great to the onslaught, the going was really tough for both Ballinamore and Mohill on Saturday evening as the two sides battled in the rain. We were lucky in the end of extra time to be ahead by the single point as the Junior A Championship could have gone either way. We thank Ballinamore for a fine sporting game but this was our day indeed this has been Mohill's year and we may as well sit back and enjoy it as it will be hard to equal our achievements in years to come. Congratulations to all concerned especially Manager, Gary Canning, Pete McWade and the Senior Management. We congratulate Niall (Chips) McGovern on getting man of the Match.

Busy Chairman

Just a reminder that Mohill's revered Chairman, Padraig McLoughlin will be playing the lead role in the Acorn Players production of their great comedy "The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley" in The Landmark on Sunday next at 8pm. It's your last chance.

Annual Draw.

The Annual draw will now take place in the Canon Donoghue Hall on December 4. Tickets t are on sale for €20 each or 3 for €50. We would appreciate more sellers as we attempt to get to every house and business in the parish and surrounding areas. Ticket sellers are asked to have their money in as soon as possible.

Under 16

These poor boys have been waiting patiently while games went on. Hopefully there will be a game this week. See fixtures. The Under 21s are likewise waiting in the aisles, they meet Manorhamilton at the weekend.

Sad deaths

While we celebrate victory let's not forget Club members and friends affected by bereavements over the last week.  Deepest sympathy to the McGuinness and Mulligan family Drumboy on the tragic death of their first cousin Phillip Garvey, his wife Ann and two of their grown up children who were killed in a plane crash in England on Saturday.  Also the Bohan and Reynolds family Treanmore and Drumlish on the untimely and sudden death of  Eleanor. We send our sympathy to Our Senior Manager Padraic Davis on the death of  his uncle Phil Davis. The McManus family Gortletteragh on the tragic and untimely death of Noel following an accident. And to the family of a great Manorhamilton GAA man Pat O Callaghan who suddenly passed away on Saturday. Always a gentleman he emailed the club congratulating Mohill when we won the Championship in October. May God give strength to all the families they have left behind.
