Gortletteragh GAA club notes

August 25, 2015

Minor Championship:
Fenagh-Gortletteragh minors played St Brigids in the third round of the Minor Championship last Wednesday evening in Aughnasheelin. After a good game Fenagh-Gortletteragh came out winners to make it three wins out of three. Our next game was away to St. Manachan's on Monday evening, please see report in next week's edition.

Sympathy:
The club extends sympathy to Minor Club Chairman, Tom Crowe and the Crowe family on the recent death of their aunt, Mary Kenny, Drumlish.  May she Rest in Peace.

U12's & U14's - Car Wash:
Our car-wash on Friday evening August 14th last was a tremendous success.  Thanks to everyone who brought their cars along to be washed and gave a donation, also thanks to those who hadn't time to get a car-wash but still contributed to our cause.  Thanks to our great crew of helpers without whom the evening would not have ran so smoothly.  Thanks to the traffic stewards for their presence and ensuring everyone's safety for the duration of the evening.  Thank you to all who helped out with power washers and elbows, especially to all our young players who got busy with the suds and sponges on the dirty cars.  A special thank you to the ladies next door for breaking up the evening with a welcome cup of hot tea.  Last but not least thanks to the ladies for taking charge of the money buckets and the refreshments afterwards.

Senior Championship:
Well done to our steam who booked their place in the championship semi-final on Saturday evening last in Ballinamore.  A great display saw them beat Drumreilly by 2-12 to 0-6.  They now face neighbours Mohill in a repeat of two years ago.  Let's hope they can come out on the right side this time.  Well done to the Management and players on this achievement.  The semi-final will be played in a couple of weeks' time.

Junior's:
Hard luck to our second team who bowed out of the Junior A championship on Sunday last in Mohill when they were defeated by Carrigallen on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-7.

Under 14's:
Our U14's lost out in the 11 a-side championship final on Monday evening last when they were
defeated by a very strong Aughavas team, final score 2-14 to 3-3.  Having lost by 19 points to the same opposition in the group stages they were always going to struggle but they never gave up until the final whistle.  Well done to the lads and their Management team Mark Heslin, Thomas Keenan and Seamus Quinn for their efforts all year.
