Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Championship Game: The draw for the quarter finals took place in Ballinamore after the senior play-off game on Saturday. Fate has decided that this will be a repeat of the County Final last year as Aughawillan and St. Mary's Kiltoghert go head to head. With St Mary's having beaten Aughawillan earlier this year in the league, old scores to settle and disappointment for the Carrick on Shannon men from last years County final, Aughawillan will no doubt be battling uphill from the very start of the game. However as Paul Bohan, Chairman of Aughawillan GAA said when he heard that Aughawillan were drawn to face St. Mary's, "Bring it on!!!". Aughawillan will be out to show the numerous clubs around the County that not only are they no "one hit wonder", they are a team who despite family and career commitments have stuck together, trained hard and are pursuing a second County Championship title in 2015. The game will be played on Sunday evening at 7pm in Pairc Sean, please come out in your droves and support our lads in this sure to be exciting game. Willies Abú!!
Junior B Championship: Aughawillan played Ballinamore in the quarter finals on Friday evening in Fenagh. Aughawillan were not to be the victors on the day, with 12 wides in the first half and no score, it was with grit and determination they fought back but Ballinamore had sealed the deal and won the game with the final score Ballinamore 3-03 to Aughawillan 1-04.
Monster Bingo: There will be a Monster Bingo in the Marquee at the Ballymac, Ballymagovern on Sunday the 30th August at 3pm. With €3,500 in prizes make sure and spread the word this is one event not to be missed. Single Books are €10 euro, Double book €15 euro and half books €5 euro.
Congratulations: It is unusual to see one County Senior Club congratulating another mid competition but it is with reverence to the determination we saw our neighbouring team Drumreilly battle against Carrigallen, that we commend their win in the competition. With 13 men, Drumreilly rolled back to the vintage years of quality football, Declan Maxwell centre field put on a wonderful display of high fielding, while James Holohan up the front led the attack and Mick Mc Girl showed extreme precision in saving a point blank score. Well done to all on an excellent display of football and a great win.
