Gortletteragh GAA club notes

July 21, 2015

Junior A Championship:
Sunday last our second team went into action against Melvin Gaels in the 2015 Junior A Championship.  The match was played in Drumkeerin and unfortunately we were well and truly beaten.  We only had 16 players togged out so we were under pressure from the start.  Our next match is in 2 weeks versus Sean O'Heslin's.  Sunday's Team:  Darren Mulvey, Niall Mulvey, David Campbell, Eddie Tyrell, Dylan Ward, Terry Kellegher, Jimmy Canning, Padraig McGarry, Keoghan McGovern, Colm Duffy, Peadar Cassells, Mark Kennedy, Gavin Mitchell, Shane Sorohan and Conor Woods.  Sub: Darren Clarke.

Senior Championship:
Next Sunday it's back to Pairc Sean for our Senior's when they take on Dromahair in the Senior Championship at 1.30.  Both teams lost narrowly in their first round game so this one if vital for each club.  We drew with Dromahair in the League a few weeks ago so we hope to go one better this time.

Under 14's:
Our Under 14 championship campaign started off last weekend when they played two matches.  Friday evening the opposition was Kiltubrid and our boys came out on top with a narrow one point victory.  Sunday evening it was back to Gortletteragh versus Aughavas and our lads were well beaten by a very strong Aughavas team.  Team:  Killian McCauley, Tom Reel, James Cunningham, Ryan Cunningham, Mark Reynolds, Jamie Quinn, Brendan Davis, Ciaran Reen, Shane Reynolds, Cian McNulty and Oisin Niblock.  Subs:  Brendan Naughton and Conor Niblock.  Sunday's team had one change when Brendan Naughton replaced Mark Reynolds.  Mark was in Hyde Park representing Gortletteragh School Boys in the half time match at the Connacht Senior Final.  Well done Mark.  Next up for the lads is Glen Gaels in Glenfarne on Friday evening 24th at 7pm.

Under 12's
Our Under 12's played Sean Connolly's in Ballinalee on Tuesday last.  This was a great run out for both sets of youngsters.  The club would like to thank Sean Connolly's and especially former Mohill clubman Michael Lynch for the refreshments after the game.

U8 & U10 blitz:
Our young players made the short journey to Cloone last Saturday morning where they took part in a blitz with the hosting club Cloone and other visiting club Mohill. Despite the unseasonal wind and rain there was a great turnout by all three clubs. Our U10's had a very victorious day with wins all round, U8's weren't as successful but had a fun morning and all went home with smiles on their faces.
