Senior Championship:
Our Senior Championship started last Sunday when we took on Annaduff in Pairc Sean. Unfortunately the game didn't go our way as we lost out by a single point, final score 0-11 to 1-7. This wasn't the result that the team, Management or large group of supporters wanted but all we can do is move on. Team: Conan Clarke, Mark Mitchell, David Mulvey, Evan Ward, James Campbell, Niall Woods, Kevin McGrath, Francie Flynn, Ciaran Egan, Barry Tiernan, Cathal McCrann, Sean Costello, Jack Heslin, Conor Reynolds and Neil Quinn. Subs: Cathal Quinn, Padraig Gallagher and Padraig McGarry. Our next match is against Dromahair who lost to St Marys in their first round match.
Fixtures:
Next weekend it's the turn of our second team when they play Melvin Gaels in the first round of the Junior A Championship. The match takes place on Sunday in Drumkeerin at 1.30pm.
Dessie Barry:
Congratulations to our former coach Dessie Barry on being inducted into the Leinster GAA Hall of Fame in Croke Park last Sunday - a just reward for the ever popular Dessie.
Referees:
It was great to see our former star player Seamus Quinn taking charge of the Senior Championship match between Mohill and Allen Gaels last Saturday evening, according to reports he did a good job. Seamus joins Frank Niblock on the referees list and in the Intermediate Championship Club Secretary Darren Mulvey did the line so the Club is well represented with referees. Well done lads, the club appreciates your efforts.
Injuries:
Missing from our senior team on Sunday was the ever present Niall Duffy who became the latest victim of the dreaded torn cruciate ligament injury. He joins Mark Duignan on the long term injured list - Mark suffered the same injury earlier in the year. It's ironic the two injured lads were two of the fittest and best trainers in the club at the time of receiving their injuries. Let's hope it won't be long until they are back in the green and gold jerseys.
Hurlers:
Gortletteragh Hurlers take on Longford Slashers in Gortletteragh on Wednesday evening 15th at 8pm. The lads had a good win over County Champions Carrick-on-Shannon a couple of weeks ago and hope to continue on their winning ways this week.
