Léiriú barred from Connacht Final
On Saturday night last we had expected our Léiriú group to be on stage at the Connacht Scór Final in Tubbercurry, instead the group were outside the venue protesting with placards about their disqualification from the competition. It was a bizarre situation for a club renowned nationally for its comedy and novelty acts.  Over the years we have made a skit of politicians, footballers, personalities of all sorts and won All Irelands while doing so. However, it seems there are some people about whom jokes cannot be made.  Even when we offered to exclude the lines referred to, we were still not allowed to compete. It was disappointing and disheartening. When one thinks of the lengths the French went, at their cost, to ensure that cartoon comedians should have the freedom to make a joke about anyone, we wonder why is Scór so restricted.

We were pleased to see the support we got from other Leitrim clubs who would, in most cases, have seen the act at the Leitrim finals. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

We have all got so much fun and entertainment from Scór and Novelty Acts, in particular, over the past thirty years and Seán O'Heslin's were in the forefront nationally in this respect. We hope that sense will prevail and that Scór will survive and the Novelty Act or Léiriú will be rescued from the constrictions and narrow focus it has at the moment.  Beidh lá eile againn.
