Under 21's:
For the third weekend in a row, all roads led to Pair Sean for the players and supporters of the green and gold.  Once again there was a happy outcome as our Under 21's partnered with Fenagh came out on top in the Championship Final as we defeated Mohill by 3-9 to 1-9.  The final scoreline made it look like an easy enough win but nothing could be further from the truth as we were 1 point down with two minutes into injury time.  At that stage we would have taken two periods of extra time with happy hearts but that was not what our young players wanted, a superb 45 from Donal Wrynn equalized the game, then a goal each from Ryan O'Rourke and Padraig Gallagher decided the outcome.  This brought the 2014 season to a close and what a way to finish, our Seniors, Juniors and Under 21's all winning their important final games.  Thanks to our young men and their mentors Sean Hynes, Tom Ward, Padraig Flynn and Justin Flynn for their great win.  These lads have a very bright future after adding this Under 21 title to the Minor one of 2012.  A word of thanks to the gallant losers Mohill who played a big part in this exciting match with a big comeback when it looked like the game was gone from them.  The club would also like to wish Mohill player Darragh Gordon a speedy recovery from the ankle injury he received in the game.  This was our first Under 21 win since 1981 and the team that brought back that title after 33 years was Niall Tiernan, Ronan Ellis (F), Gary Butler (F), Niall Mulvey, Richard Heaney (F), David Mulvey, Evan Ward, Donal Wrynne (F), Niall Woods, Francie Flynn, Barry Tiernan, Shane Doonan (F), Ryan O'Rourke (F), Padraig Gallagher and Jack Heslin.  Subs:  Owen O'Bradaigh, John Reynolds, David Campbell, Darragh McLoughlin (F), Alan McGarry, Conor Woods, Tony Simms (F), Conal Gallagher and Michael Doonan (F).  Once again thanks to our supporters who make their presence felt on Saturday and for all their support over the season and I'm sure the great results from the last month or so will have ye all looking forward to 2015. We mentioned last week that our Under 21's had some players whose fathers were on the last team from the club to win an Under 21 Championship.  This weekend there was also good news for former Gortletteragh greats Pat and James Flynn when their sons Brian and Kevin were on the Celbridge team who won the Kildare Under 21 Championship Final on Friday night last.  As they say "the apples didn't fall far from the tree".
