Connacht Club: Live to fight another day! Although undoubtedly a disappointing end to the year's accomplishments, nothing can take away from what was a great year for Aughawillan GAA. Defying the odds, few outside the club would have thought last January that Aughawillan would win the Senior County Championship or reach the Semi Final of the Connacht Club. It is nine years since a club in Leitrim have reached the Semi Final of the Connacht Club and Aughawillan are the team who have broken down that barrier.
As in every game of football, the ball must be kept moving and while lessons have been learned, it is the experience of playing football at such a high level that will certainly stand to this team as they move forward next year.
The Aughawillan Executive wishes to thank the senior team and management for a wonderful year, a train ride of unimaginable enthusiasm which has invigorated young and old. A feat which saw the name of Aughawillan GAA highlighted on a national level and has inspired the community and most importantly young club members of the heights that can be reached with dedication and commitment. We wish to acknowledge that as a team they have continually given their best this year and that they have our respect and admiration as we all look forward to next year's football season. Achadh Mhaolain Abú!

Leitrim Sports Star Award Nomination:Congratulations are in order as the Aughawillan Senior team who have been nominated as one of three teams for the "Mens team of the Year" awarded by Leitrim Sports Partnership. The Leitrim Sports Star Awards 2014 will take place on Saturday 29th November in The Bush Hotel. A special night of celebration is planned by Leitrim Sports Partnership with a 4 course meal being served, followed by the awards and appearances by special guests. Aughawillan's Call: It was an inspiring rendition of Aughawillan's Call that lifted hearts on Sunday last, although record deals are in the works, we hope that the composer Mary Sammon Quinn will continue to perform locally.Many thanks to all involved.

U21 St Brigid's: Best of Luck to St Brigid's U21 as they take on St Francis this coming Saturday at 3pm in Drumshanbo.

Sympathy: Aughawillan GAA would like to extend our sympathy to Frank, John and the Smyth family on the death of Elizabeth Smyth (née Denihan), Aughawillan. A native of Kerry, Mrs. Smyth met her husband Pat in London and returned with him to Augahwillan to marry and raise her family. Mrs Smyth true to her native Kingdom was always a great GAA supporter and took great pleasure in Kerry's All Ireland and Aughawillan's Senior Championship wins this year. We were honored she was there with us on the day and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Ar deis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Condolances: Aughawilllan GAA would like to extend our sympathy to Carol, Michael, Mary, Pat, Martin,Ellen and the Flanagan family, on the death of Sean Flanagan.
Sean was an exceptional footballer and played for Aughawillan and the Leitrim County team for a number of years. He had huge energy, enthusiasm and commitment and won medals with Aughawillan for the '74 Minor Championship and the '76 Senior Championship. Emigrating in 1977 he left a huge void in the club and the community of Aughawillan. But his love of GAA followed him across the waters and he played football for the Sean McDermotts Club, (GAA Club) in San Francisco. His love of Aughawillan GAA was well known and his support over the years and recently was greatly appreciated. Dé go raibh a anam.
