Gortletteragh GAA club notes

October 21, 2014

Results:
This time last week we were celebrating a few great wins but last weekend showed us a perfect example of the ups and downs of a GAA Club when we lost three finals one after the other on Sunday.  First our U16 boys were beaten by Kiltubrid in the Championship Final held in Fenagh.  Next our U16 girls lost to the same opposition again in Fenagh.  Then it was on to Ballinamore for the Senior Hurling Final where we were beaten by Carrick-on-Shannon.  The common thread in these games was despite putting in a great effort and never giving up until the final whistle, we were outclassed in all three finals.  Well done to the boys and girls who had to play in horrible weather conditions.  To the senior hurlers we say hard luck but they were always up against it from a Carrick team who played some wonderful hurling. Unfortunately Cathal McCrann received an injury during the game which led to him being hospitalised.  Let's hope he is feeling better by Saturday when he gets marred to Olivia Gilmartin.  Best wishes to both of them on their big day from everyone in the Club.

Fixtures:
On Friday next our Junior team take on Carrigallen in Division 3 in Cloone at 9pm.  A win will see us promoted and put into the league final.

Under 21's:
The Under 21 Championship kicks off on Saturday 1st November when Gortletteragh/Fenagh amalgamation takes on St Francis.  It is a round robin format this year with Sean O'Heslins and St. Brigids also in our group.
