Ballinamore club notes

October 14, 2014

Congratulations
Well done to the SOH Senior lads on a hard fought but deserved victory over local rivals Drumreilly in the final match of this years Gallogly Catering ACL Division 1. This was a vital victory for the Senior lads which cemented their place in Division 1 against the already relegated Drumreilly. Despite being relegated Drumreilly put up a very spirited performance specifically in the second half. SOH seemed in control for the majority of the game but were put under pressure by this Drumreilly team who scored 6 unanswered points to turn the momentum against Sean O'Heslins. The lads dug deep in the last 10 or so minutes scoring 4 unanswered points of their own to make the game safe eventually running out winners by a score of 0-15 to 0-12. This was an excellent result for the lads and shows that they have quickly gotten over the disappointment of the Championship loss and they have ended their season on a winning note.

Commiserations
Commiserations to all the girls in Oughteragh Gaels who took part in this years' Connacht Club Championship semi final in Ballyhaunis last Saturday. The girls were beaten by a very strong Clonbur team who deservedly progressed to the Connacht final. The girls and management of Oughteragh Gaels should be proud of the fine football they have played all season and remember they are still deserved County Champions.

Good Luck
Best of luck to Sean O'Heslin's Minor girls who take on St Joseph's in the rearranged Minor Final this Saturday at 315pm. Please note venue is changed to Cloone.

Senior Hurling
This past week end Ballinamore played Gortletteragh in the Championship semi-final in Ballinamore. We had a number of players back to hurling after long absences and they all played brilliantly. After a tight game in ideal conditions, we went down by one point, while we had a last gasp chance from a free to draw, we had missed many scoring opportunities to seal the game and unfortunately on the day, we didn't take them.  Thanks to all the players who turned out on the day and the love of hurling was very visible on both sides.  Our team was Adrian Smith, Derek Moran, Paul Earley, Conor Moran, Liam Ferguson, Paddy McManus, Shane Murphy, Sean McWeeney, Capt., Kevin O 'Connor, Keith Boyle , Barry McWeeney, Eamonn Walsh, Mark McGrory, Ruairi Sullivan, Brendan Mulvey. Subs Fergal Earley, Peter Reynolds, Michael O'Dell, Ronan O'Rourke, Cormac O Suilleabhain. We wish the best to Paddy McManus in his travels and thank Keith for coming over for the weekend to play hurling. We wish the best of luck to both Gortletteragh and Carrick Hurling in the final in Ballinamore on next Sunday.

Under 14 girls
Thanks to all the Under 14 girls and management for hosting a GAA club day along with our neighbours Garadice Gaels. Dublin club Ballyboden St Enda's visited Pairc Sean O'Heslin and by all accounts a great day was had by all with hopefully a return visit for the girls organised to Dublin in the near future.
