Ward poised to take Leitrim reins

Leitrim senior footballers take to the field.
Shane Ward will be installed as Leitrim's new football manager next week.
The outgoing U21 manager will replace Longford native Sean Hagan, who stepped down after just one season in charge in July. A native of Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, Ward guided Leitrim to a first Connacht U21FC victory in 17 years at the expense of All-Ireland champions Galway earlier this year.
Leitrim subsequently lost the Connacht final to Roscommon.
Ward has been involved with a number of Leitrim underage teams in recent years and also led his home club Aodh Ruadh to a Donegal U21FC 'B' title last year.
