Cloone Gaa Notes

On Friday night last we got back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over kiltubrid on a score line Cloone 0-16 kiltubrid  0-8. Despite being short a number of panel members the team put another superb performance, and were the dominant team right from the start. On Saturday next the intermediate championship continues when we take on Leitrim Gaels in Carrrigallen at 8 pm. If we retain the form shown in the championship so far, we are capable of finishing the group stages with full points. Best of luck to team and management.
HAVE A Go DAY
On Sunday Aug 3rd Cloone Gaa will host the Leitrim GAA launch of the GAA initiative "Have a Go Day" in conjunction with their Annual Sports day. Have a Go Day in is an opportunity for young people to sample sports that they have not played before. On the day we provide opportunity to play Rounders, Hurling, Camogie and of course Gaelic football.
National Rounders Chairman, Mr Ger Proctor, and Connacht Rounders Chairman Mr Cyril Feehily along with members of the nation coaching team will be in attendance to provide tuition and coaching in the game of rounders. Coaching manuals, rule books and playing equipment will be available on the day.
Other leading exponents of the other various games will be on hand also to demonstrate the skills and to invite the young people to take part. All families in the parish are invited, with a special invitation to families who are new to the area and have not had the opportunity to be involved in sport in the parish.
On the day there will be a number of blitz games involving neighbouring clubs and a host of various sporting events. There will also be an over 40 match with a host of players of former years being invited to play. There has been a noted demand for WD 40, horse embrocation, and various other lubricants in preparation for this match. Proceedings start at 1 30 pm. It promises to be a huge day for all the family an event not to be missed.
