Leitrim's prospects of reaching successive Ted Webb Cup finals look bleak following two defeats on their opening games.

Having made history last year by reaching the final of the U16 competition for the first time, Leitrim opened their 2014 campaign with two matches last Friday.

Unfortunately, it was to be a forgettable day as they were well beaten in both games at Ballyhaunis, losing to Galway by 0-12 to 0-4 and to Mayo East West by 1-10 to 0-4.

The county U16s can get their challenge back on track on Saturday when they play two more games in the competition, but only wins will suffice against Sligo White (10am) and Mayo North South (11am).

They'll need to up their scoring average considerably as a return of four points is unlikely to win any game. Tweet
