Leitrim
No joy for either the Leitrim minor team or Senior teams over the weekend. On Saturday evening the minor team went down fighting to Roscommon in the Connaught semi final. Although we were defeated by a smart Roscommon outfit we were competitive throughout and never gave up. While defeat isn't easy to take especially with the level of effort put in an minor grade this year. This crop of players and their management team can hold their head high and had quite a successful year overall at this level. The work being put in at county underage is now showing and it will take time but I'm sure the Senior teams will start to benefit down this road from this underage development work.
Thing didn't go to well for the Leitrim senior team on Sunday in the All Ireland qualifiers series. As we were comprehensively outclassed in Newry by a very efficient Down outfit.
Gaelic 4 Girls
15 of our underage girls and stars of the future had a very enjoyable day out in Croke Park on Monday when the took part in the Gaelic4Girls blitz competition in GAA headquarters. The girls acquitted themselves exceptionally well and played 4 games against teams from throughout the country. The girls won 3 of their 4 games including a win against Crossmaglen Rangers. Girls not to many Leitrim teams can say the they played Cross in Croke park and won.
Well done to all the girls who took part and a special word of thanks to the Ladies side of the club for organising the Gaelic 4 Girls programme and a memorable trip to Croke Park.
New Arrival
Congratulation to Mary Keaney & Padraig Muldoon on the arrival of their new baby girl, Megan. Grandad, Tom Joe might not be available to umpire as readily from now on as he will surely be tied up babysitting a bit more from now on.
Sympathy
The entire parish was saddened to hear of the passing of Mick Heeran Funshinagh at the weekend. The club would like to extend its sincere sympathy to his wife Mary, sons Conor, Micháel and daughter Tara and to the extended Heeran family. Rest In Peace.
