Barney Breen expressed satisfaction after Leitrim's facile victory over New York in the opening round of the Connacht SFC at a sweltering Gaelic Park last night.

Emlyn Mulligan helped himself to 3-7 as the Ridge County easily brushed aside the Exiles' feeble challenge to set up a semi-final meeting with the winners of Sligo and London.

"We are happy enough," the Leitrim joint-manager told the Irish Times.

"It was hot conditions out there and we were apprehensive all weekend. So it is a sigh of relief more than feeling victorious and I feel our fitness stood to us." Tweet
