Leitrim manager Terry Hyland believes there is little difference between the quality of the teams in Division 2 and 3 of the Allianz Football League.

Leitrim were promoted to Division 3 last year and Hyland will be using Sunday's Connacht FBD League semi-final against Roscommon as preparation for the league campaign.

“It is going to be exciting, it is our first Division 3 campaign after so long in Division 4 but if you look at the quality of the teams that is in that Division 3, I look at Division 2 sometimes and wondering which is the harder division?" he is quoted as saying in the Leitrim Observer.

“That’s where we are and it is where we wanted to be but if you don’t put your hand in the fire, you’ll never know how hot it is.”

Looking ahead to Sunday's game in Avantcard Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada, the Cavan man added:  “Last year we had a very good first round of the FBD League against Mayo and it was more a psychological marker for our players on the day as much as anything else.

“We got a good performance, we didn’t get the result but if we get a good performance out of the lads on Sunday, it will be a big help going forward and the National League is what it is all about.”
