Mohill club notes

October 01, 2019

Senior Championship

Mohill sadly bowed out of the championship race on Sunday last following a keenly contested semi-final. Ballinamore were worthy winners and we wish them well in the final with Glencar Manorhamilton in two weeks. We thank Management and panel for their efforts over the year. It has not been an easy ride in 2019 with young men naturally opting to travel and others picking up serious injuries. Hopefully all those problems will soon be rectified and they can keep focused for the final games of the League. We still have a very young team and have no fear, we will be back.

Under 15

Great activity at the weekend with both U15 teams playing. The first team had a good win in Drumkeerin on Sat, while the Div 3 team found Dromahaire’s first team too strong on Sunday morning. We wish Diarmuid Casey a speedy return to action following his injury last week.  Next game is on Saturday in Fenagh at 12 noon.

Mohill Ladies

Heartbreak for the ladies on Saturday. They gave it their all but could but could not break down the Aughawillan defence. It has been a good year for Mohill and with a very young team the future looks good.  The Ladies Club thank Gary Canning and Martin McDermott for all the hours they spent training and coaching in all kinds of weather.

Frankie Mulvey RIP

The club extend sympathy to the family of Frankie Mulvey who died last week. Frankie was from Ballinagleara but worked in the Bank in Mohill for some years and made many friends here. He was a fine footballer and played for Leitrim in his youth. May he rest in Peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé
