Mohill club notes

U12

Congratulations to the U12s who won the plate of their division in the Cross Border League on Sunday evening last. The opposition was Clonbroney and Michael Lynch former Mohill player was one of the coaches of the Longford side so loyalties were divided by some on the sideline. It was an excellent game with great skills displayed by both sides. The panel and scorers was: Jack Gilheaney, Eoghan O Reilly, David Murphy, Darren Brennan, John Mee, Dean Reynolds, Ryan Gordon 0-2, Rian Walpole 0-2, Codey Tighe, Frankie McManus 0-10, John Macklin 0-5, Diarmuid Higgins, Shane Mayock, Michael Cunningham, Niall McCrann. Final score was Mohill 0-18 Clonbroney 0-13

U17

THE U17s started their championship campaign with a win over Melvin Gaels last week.  The young referee from Dromahaire was exceptionally good and we will certainly see plenty of this young man in the years to come. They play Dromahaire on Monday evening at 7.30 in Mohill.

Div1

Our senior squad put up a good performance against an injury hit Annaduff on Saturday last. Mohill are also hit by a spate of injuries with five first choice players out with injuries and three more in the USA. Their replacements are acquitting themselves very well and getting in vital match practice. They play Aughawillan in Mohill, tonight, Wed. at 8pm and on Saturday travel to Manorhamilton. Support essential.

Div2

The second string put up a good fight in a high scoring game against Bornacoola on Sunday morning but there was a lot of tired legs as many of the players had featured in the Div1 game the previous evening. The final scoreline was, Bornacoola 3-4-13 Mohill 3-12. Sunday next we entertain Cloone in Pairc Philib.

Ladies

The Mohill Ladies gave a great performance in the League Final on Sunday last against a very strong St Francis side that will not be out of place in the top tier. Mohill fielded some very young players and they should follow the example of our midfield general Deirdre Ward who has been a constant with Mohill since she first played U12 in 1996, Deirdre is still going strong and playing very well after all those years. A big thank you to Gary Canning and Martin McDermott who look after the team.
