Mohill

Féile weekend

The club hosted a boys team from Aughrim Co Wicklow and a girls team from Two Mile House Co Kildare for Féile Peil na nÓg last weekend,. On Friday evening the girls played Erin’s Óg from Kilkenny, Ballinamore, and the team that we hosted. All were close games and every girl gave it their all, but just lost by small margins. The visiting girls had a wonderful time and a big thank you is in order for all the parents who hosted them.

Féile Boys

The boys won their first two games against MacDiarmada Gaels and JK Brackens on Friday evening and on Sat morning Aughrim beat them by two points. It was on then to Sligo where we were convincing winners over Easkey,8-6 to 2-4 thus qualifying for the cup semi on Sunday in Leitrim Village against Dunbeg of Trump fame. Alas our luck ran out as the teams were level after extra time and the Clare men won on free kicks, heartbreak for our boys who had battled all through. The full panel was: Luke Bohan, Cathal Donohue, Jack McCrann, Diarmuid Casey, Michael Tiernan, Eoghan Duignan,  Jack Rowley, Liam Flynn,  Aidan Mulligan, Colin McNamara, Evan Kilrane, Keith McCaffrey, Senan Curran, Matthew Murphy, Aaron McCrann, Harry Boyle, Cillian Walpole, Adam Kiernan, James Dimmock, Niall Mulligan, Darren Duignan, Blaine McCrann, Tomás Mayock, Thomas Casey. Scorers in the final game were M Murphy 1-4, C McNamara 0-3, E Duignan 0-2, A McCrann 0-1. We also acknowledge the parents who hosted the young Wicklow lads.

A big Thank You

We thank everyone in the club who helped out at the weekend. There was an endless supply of cakes and sandwiches for everyone and a big thank you to Thomas Reynolds who manned the barbecue on Friday. We had last minute repairs to clubroom, pitch and surrounds and we had good people on hand to do all those jobs.

Alannah McGuinness

Alannah made the trip to Germany at the weekend with the other members on the Irish U20 athletic team. Great days ahead for this young lady.

Div1 League

Our seniors played a speedy Melvin Gaels on Saturday evening and emerged victorious after a pulsating hour. Great to see Ronan Gallagher, Alan Armstrong and Darragh Gordon back after injury but we now have Ronan Gordon and David Mitchell nursing ailments, plus a handful of players gone to the USA

Div 2 League

It was difficult to field a team on Sunday last due to injuries but they fielded 15 players against Drumkeerin. After a close first half the visitors pulled away in the second half.

Ladies in Final

Congratulations to Mohill Ladies who beat Carrick/Bornacoola on Sunday last and have now qualified for the final against St Francis at 1.30 in Pairc Sean next Sunday

Under 12 Cross County League

The U12s played Clonbroney Longford on Thursday but were beaten with the new rules with a scoreline of 14 to 13. They will meet the same opposition in the shield final in Carrick on Sunday next. The panel and scorers was Jack Gillheaney, David Murphy, Liam Reilly, Rian Walpole, Eoghan Reilly, Frankie McManus 0-9, Ryan Gordon 0-2, Codey Tighe 0-1, Niall McCrann, Shane Mayock, Dean Reynolds, Paul Bohan 0-1, Diarmuid Higgins, Gerry McCrann.
