U15 Championship Final

Our U15s took on Melvin Gaels in the 13 a side Final last Sunday morning in Páirc Naomh Mhuire in Carrick on Shannon. Melvin Gaels started the game at blistering pace while we were at 6s and 7s all over the field. At half time the score was 4-03 to 1-02 to Melvin. As Jose Mourinho says it was a game of two halves well this certainly was! Gortletteragh came out a different team and took the game to Melvin Gaels. We popped over a point followed by a tap in goal. It was a 7 point game now, the pressure was mounting on Melvin Gaels, we stuck in another goal and tapped over 4 points to draw level. We pushed on and went into the lead for the first time in the game. Melvin Gaels weren’t going to lie down, they went down the field and scored a goal again to leave them 2 points up with time ticking down. As we entered injury time our lads dug deep and with a never say die attitude we won possession and with a well worked move we struck for our fourth goal and from the kick out we gained possession again and pointed to leave us two points up. There were jubilant scenes as the referee blew the final whistle. These lads have to be complimented on their performances throughout the championship campaign, not losing a single game. It was hard luck on Ryan Cunningham and Tom Crowe who missed out on the final due to injury. We wish the lads have a speedy recovery. The team lined out as follows; J Shiels, D Heslin, M Davis , A Liu Doyle, C Niblock, B Naughton, B Davis, O Heslin, N Ward , C McNulty, M Reynolds (C), R Ward , C Reynolds, Subs J Reynolds, C O’Leary, C Fanning, J Gannon, N Ryan, A Bohan, L McManus, T Crowe, R Cunningham.

Carrick Hurlers Conquer Connacht

Well done to all at Carrick Hurling on winning the Connacht JHC against Galway's Ballygar, especially our representatives Cathal McCrann and Kevin McGrath, while former Gortletteragh hurler Conor Beirne of Eslin is also on the team. The lads will now progress to an All Ireland Semi Final in January against the Ulster Champions, either Monaghans Castleblayney or Antrims Cushendun.

Weekend Fixtures

The inaugural Under 20 Competition kicks off this weekend and Rinn Gaels will host Drumkeerin at home on Sunday morning, throw in 11 am. Keep an eye on Facebook for details of venue and support for the lads is much appreciated.

Connacht Club Results

Hard luck to Fenagh who were beaten by Shamrock Gaels of Sligo by the narrowest of margins on Saturday.

New Arrival

Congratulations to James and Deirdre Campbell, Clonohill, on the birth of their first child, a boy Jamie. A future Gortletteragh player no doubt!

Congratulations

We wish  Gerard Campbell, Tooman and Katie Gordon, Mohill, on their engagement this past weekend. Gerard has won several underage titles with the club as well as an intermediate  league and championship double in 2012, and served as senior team captain this year.   We wish you both the very best for the future and enjoy the wedding planning.
