Former Roscommon manager Fergal O'Donnell and ex-Cavan boss Terry Hyland are two of the names being heavily linked to the vacant Leitrim senior football manager's position.

The Connacht side are on the look out for a new manager following Brendan Guckian's decision to step down from the role after he was asked to re-interview for the position.

A committee has been established to put forward a candidate and they have begun that task in recent weeks with O'Donnell and Hyland seemingly being the front runners.

During his term as Cavan manager, Hyland guided the Breffni County to Division One in the NFL and an All-Ireland SFC quarterfinal appearance as well as two Ulster U21 championship titles.

O'Donnell guided Roscommon minors to All-Ireland MFC glory in 2006 and was joint manager alongside Kevin McStay two years ago, before stepping down after one year in the job.

Other names being mentioned are former Longford football Padraic Davis who managed Mohill to the county title last year and David Casey who managed Aughnasheelin to IFC glory in 2017.
