Leitrim midfielder Jack Heslin has stressed that it is imperative to learn from their experiences this year.

The Connacht side had a prolonged championship campaign compared to recent years lining out on four occasions between provincial and qualifier matches.

And playing against top teams like Roscommon and Monaghan is where Heslin believes that they will learn more. They also picked up a qualifier win over Division Two side Louth.

Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, Heslin, who was one of the outstanding performers for the side all year, stated that they need to work on taking their chances when they come their way.

"Maybe we just need to get more clinical inside and then we will beat bigger teams. We probably burned ourselves out early on but we're still working on finishing out games against these bigger teams," said Heslin.

"Roscommon was the same thing, we probably need to kick the ball a bit more, save ourselves a bit rather than killing ourselves running through the middle but that will come with playing more games.

"We need to learn these things and I think it will all come with experience, there are definite positives in it and the more we play, the better we get."
