Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett has stepped down as Laois hurling manager for a second time, and this time it looks like he won't be returning.

He previously resigned in May of last year after two of his players were involved in a club challenge match, only to return the following week after discussions with the county board. Ironically, he then guided the O'Moore County to their first Leinster SHC victory over neighbours Offaly since 1972, which was arguably the highlight of his four-year reign.

Offaly avenged that defeat in this year's provincial championship before Laois suffered a crushing 0-12 to 5-32 loss to Clare in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

Plunkett delivered silverware in the form on an Allianz League Division 2A title in 2013 and succeeded in raising Laois hurling's profile during his time at the helm.
