Laois manager Mick Lillis is adamant the county needs to start bringing through younger players in order to build for the future.

The Clare native admitted in the wake of their defeat to the Banner in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers that the county was going through a transition period.

Lillis also admitted to the Leinster Express that he was unsure if he would be the man to lead the county forward, but stressed of regardless of who had the job, the youth was the way forward.

"We're going to have to bring in more young lads, that's the bottom line. This is a big transition period for Laois. We have to go back to the drawing board and go at it again," said Lillis.

"We're in division three and we have to try to get out of it. It might take a year, it might take a couple of years but we have to build with young lads and get out with a fresh team."
