Kilkenny hurling selector and physical trainer Mick Dempsey is spearheading the search for the new senior football manager in his native Laois.
The Irish Independent reports that Dempsey, who served a stint as O'Moore County boss back in the late '90s, is heading up a committee, which also includes chairman Gerry Kavanagh and treasurer Martin Byrne, tasked with the job of finding a replacement for Tomas O Flatharta.
Laois clubs have submitted three nominations for the vacancy - outgoing minor manager Mick Lillis and former players Leo Turley and Joe Higgins.
Higgins guided Arles-Killeen to last year's county final while Turley has enjoyed success with clubs in Meath.
The appointments committee also has the authority to look outside the county.
