Antrim's Ricky Johnston will miss Saturday's Qualifier against Laois as it clashes with his father's anniversary mass.

The defender has been given manager Frank Fitzsimons' blessing to attend the service and will therefore be unavailable for the match against the O'Moore County in Portlaoise.

"Ricky approached me about it last week," Fitzsimons told The Irish News. "I just said to him 'You do what you have to do'.

"I took it out of his hands so he'll be going to his father's first-anniversary mass on Saturday night. Ricky's family are very, very close and it's entirely understandable that he wants to be there."
