Gleeson happy to get second chance

September 17, 2014

Rathdowney-Errill manager Conor Gleeson was relieved to see his side come away with a draw against Abbeyleix in their SHC semi final clash.

The former champions needed a late point from the stick of Darren King to earn a replay in a game that to and fro-ed all the way through.

Rathdowney-Errill lead the match by five points before Abbeyleix forced their way back into the contest and took the lead with almost time up and Gleeson admitted to the Leinster Express that he was concerned at that stage.

"There was always going to be another little bit in them, and they got the goal straight away and they were back in it," said Gleeson.

"Their tails were up, and it's like stopping a train at that stage. We're delighted to have gotten the draw in the end, it could have gone either way, but we're delighted to have the chance in a replay again."
