Laois referee Eddie Kinsella knows that he will have done a good job officiating at Sunday's All-Ireland SFC final, if he is not mentioned in the aftermath of the game.
There seems to be a growing trend of dissecting a referee's performance in high profile games in recent times, especially in the media where Meath referee Cormac Reilly and Westmeath official Barry Kelly have come in for some criticism by RTE GAA pundits in particular.
Kinsella admitted to the Leinster Express that he was thrilled to get the honour of refereeing what would be his first All-Ireland SFC final, having overseen the All-Ireland minor, under-21 and club finals in the past.
"I am delighted, it is the biggest honour you can get," said Kinsella. "It should be a great game, going by the semi finals anyway and the less said about me afterwards the better. So long as I'm not mentioned after the game I'll be happy."
Kinsella will be assisted by his umpires and Courtwood club mates Pat O'Connell, Niall Murphy, Arthur O'Connor and Alan O'Halloran.
