Laois ladies football captain Tracey Lawlor has announced her inter-county retirement.

Lawlor, from the Sarsfields club, was one of the biggest and most-respected names in the sport over the past decade. The midfielder first came to prominence in 2001 when she helped Laois to their first ever All-Ireland senior title. The victory over Mayo in the final was the O'Moore County's first in eight attempts.

Tracey went on to win All Star awards in 2006, '07, '10 and '11, and was also voted onto the TG4 Team of the Decade.
