Wexford's footballers are back in action this weekend and face a difficult assignment against Laois in the back-door series.

Both teams fell foul of Dublin in the Leinster SFC but Tomas O Flatharta and his Laois players got their quarter-final defeat out of their system with a slender 1-19 to 2-15 victory over Fermanagh in Round 1A.

Donie Kingston and Ross Munnelly maintained their impressive scoring returns with 0-6 and 0-4 respectively against the Ernesiders.

Last Sunday's 16-point reversal at the hands of Jim Gavin's team in sky blue will have knocked the stuffing out of Wexford and it's a big ask on Aidan O'Brien and his players to take to the field for the qualifiers just seven days later.

The one advantage they have is that the game is being played on their home turf.

That might not just be enough, however, to half the momentum that Laois built up against Fermanagh.

Verdict - Laois.
