There are reports that Darren Strong has been dropped from the Laois team for Sunday's All-Ireland football qualifier against Wexford for playing a recent club game.

The Emo clubman was a surprise omission from the Laois team named last night, with Robbie Kehoe coming in for him in the half back line. It has led to rumours that Strong has been left out on the grounds that he played a club game against the wishes of the Laois management.

Laois manager Tomas O Flatharta took similar action against Colm Begley who he dropped for the Leinster SFC first round clash with Wicklow in May after the Stradbally man had lined out for Parnells in a Dublin SFC game four days earlier.

Begley was subsequently reinstated and played in the O'Moore County's Leinster SFC quarter-final defeat to Dublin.
