Shortly after watching his team snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in the Walsh Cup final against Galway on Saturday, Davy Fitzgerald switched his attention to Laois.

O’Moore Park was the venue for the Model County’s 1-16 to 0-18 victory over the Tribesmen and Davy Fitz and his players will be back there next Saturday evening for a Division 1 Group B round 1 fixture with Eddie Brennan’s team.

“I am not looking forward to coming here next Saturday night, I am 100 per cent not looking forward to it,” Fitzgerald remarked to the Irish Independent.

“And I saw a few of them taking notes there, so they are well into getting everything ready for next week.

“We know what’s coming and I told the lads we got to be ready for it. We got to be ready for a battle next week.”
