O'Connor under no illusions

Kerry senior hurling manager Fintan O'Connor

Kerry manager Fintan O’Connor admits that his side will be up against it when they face Laois in the Joe McDonagh Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The Kingdom have home advantage for this clash, but they still go into the game as underdogs against a side that should they win are through to the final.

Kerry kept their hopes of reaching the decider alive with a win over Westmeath last time out, but O’Connor told the Kerryman that they will have to up their performance again against the O’Moore County.

“They’re a serious team,” said O’Connor. He added: “I think it’s going to be a savage challenge for us on Saturday, but we’re looking forward to it nevertheless.

“They were impressive at home to Antrim. They beat Antrim comprehensively and in fairness we know how good Antrim were against us the previous week. So, look, we’re under no illusions about Saturday.”
