Laois manager John Sugrue is happy to see plenty of competition for places in his squad.

The Kerry native believes the squad he has at the moment is the strongest since he took over as manager at the start of the 2018 campaign.

This Saturday, Sugrue brings his squad to Croke Park to face Westmeath in the FL3 final and they head into that game in a confident mood.

“We have a nice bit of competition in the squad right now and that is what we are looking at. The past is the past and we can’t look at that too much but we have healthy competition,” Sugrue told the Leinster Express.

“It is all about guys trying to do what we are looking for them to do. If they do then they will have a shot at getting on the team.”
