Laois manager John Sugrue is in no doubt that his charges need to show more consistency in games.

The O’Moore County got their FL3 promotion hopes back on track with a win over Longford last Saturday evening.

There are two rounds of games to go and although Laois must rely on other results to go their way, Sugrue has insisted that they will look after their own performances as they face Offaly (away) and Carlow (home).

“From now on, we really, really have to bring a level of consistency to what we’re doing, otherwise we’re at nothing,” Sugrue told the Leinster Express.

“Last year we had that lower standard that allowed us to develop a bit of consistency, but you’re not going to be allowed develop that consistency here unless you turn up every day.

“I think we’ve got bogged down a small bit on structure. At the same time, there’s a degree of freedom that maybe the boys don’t fully grasp. It’s just trying to get the balance right so that we’re not overly open at the back and yet we’re able to play football at the other end of the field.”
