All sporting bodies in Laois have been invited to attend a meeting to discuss violence in sport within the county.

The Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow will host the ‘Laois Concern Against Violence in Sport’ meeting on Thursday, November 29th.

Former GAA President Liam O’Neill is expected to attend according to the Leinster Express, while every GAA club has been urged to attend.

There have been numerous incidents of violence in GAA within the county over the past couple of years, with the most publicised being Laois senior captain Ross King where the Rathdowney-Errill player suffered a facial injury during the county final defeat to Camross.

Just over a week ago, a soccer referee officiating in the CCFL suffered a broken jaw when he was assaulted after a match.
