Limerick hurling captain Declan Hannon is in a race to be fit for the start of the league.
The Treaty County's centre back limped out of Sunday's Munster senior hurling league victory over Kerry with a hamstring tear and will definitely sit out Sunday's final against Clare.
More worryingly from manager John Kiely's perspective, however, is the possibility that Hannon could struggle to be ready for the Division 1B opener against Laois in the Gaelic Grounds on January 28th.
A potential replacement, Kyle Hayes, who wore the No.6 jersey for Limerick's All-Ireland U21 triumph last year, is also doubtful for the Laois game.
