Laois forward David Conway is hopeful that he can play some part in the National Football League.

Conway is on the comeback trail having had surgery six weeks ago on a long standing injury and he revealed to the Leinster Express that he is keen to return for the latter stages of the Division Four campaign.

The Arles-Kilcruise clubman is eager to get back into the action as soon as possible with life beginning under new manager John Sugrue.

"I had the operation six weeks ago and he did what he could with it, and it will be a period on the bike and swimming and training other ways, but I'll try to keep the fitness up," said Conway.

"I won't be available for the first few league games but I'll be keeping myself fit without being out on the pitch. There was two or three weeks after the operation when I couldn't do anything but there's always some element you can be working on. I'm doing my best to utilise it and bring on some other part of me."
