Carnacon's Cora Staunton accepts the Delores Tyrell Cup

Carnacon made light of the absence of their eight suspended players when they comfortably accounted for Castlebar Mitchels in their re-fixed Mayo senior ladies football championship clash last night.

The reigning All-Ireland club champions were 4-10 to 0-7 winners of the round 2 tie at the Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan, despite being without the services of Martha Carter, Marie Corbett, Amy Dowling, Doireann Hughes, Sadhbh Larkin, Fiona McHale, Cora Staunton and Saoirse Walsh.

The eight were suspended after they left the county panel during the summer over alleged player welfare issues.

Carnacon will be back in action on Sunday when they face Knockmore away in their final group game.
