Cork captain Ciara O'Sullivan expressed her relief at being back in the TG4 Munster ladies football championship final after her side trumped Tipp in Ardfinnan.

And the Rebels will meet Kerry in the 23 June decider after Eddie Sheehy's side accounted for Waterford in a repeat of last season's final.

Cork may be used to plenty of success on the football field, but according to O'Sullivan there is already excitement brewing about being back in the final.

"We're into a Munster final which is a step further than we got last year so that's all we'll be focussing on," said O'Sullivan.

"It will be another very very tough game in three weeks time and we'll train very hard for three weeks and see where that gets us.

"Tipp are a fabulous team, we would have had an interest in following Tipp over the last two years because our club trainer [Shane Ronayne] is their trainer so we've followed Tipp and would have been shouting for them, ironically, last year.

"But they're a brilliant, young, up and coming team and we knew we had a massive battle on our hands today and that's how it turned out."

Elsewhere, reigning TG4 Munster champions Kerry got their title defence off to a surprisingly easy start against Waterford that belied their troubled Lidl NFL campaign and managerial problems in the last couple of months.

Goals in either half from Sarah Houlihan and Andrea Murphy capped a confident Kerry performance that puts them back in a TG4 Munster final where they will meet Cork on June 23.

Meanwhile, Armagh booked their place in the TG4 Ulster ladies senior final on 17 June with a stunning victory over Cavan thanks to goals from Aimee Mackin and Kelly Mallon in the last ten minutes at Inniskeen.

The Breffni girls looked set for victory and led by 1-9 to 0-11 at the 50 minute mark, but after Tiarna Grimes and Lauren McConville pointed to stretch their lead, Armagh reached the final and held off Cavan's comeback.

Armagh will now face the winners of next Saturday's second semi-final between Monaghan and Donegal in the decider.

Elsewhere, Derry were crowned TG4 Ulster junior champions after their 3-15 to 1-14 victory over Antrim at Emyvale.

Goals from Deirbhle McNicholl and Ciara McGurk had Derry 2-8 to 0-6 ahead at the break, while Megan Devine's solo effort two minutes after the restart sealed the win for Derry.

Tyrone ladies also had a big win in the TG4 Ulster intermediate semi-final where substitute Maria Canavan top scored with 1-7, in their 7-22 to 0-5 win over Down.

Louth will face Carlow in the TG4 Leinster ladies JFC final after their comprehensive 5-31 to 0-5 win over Kilkenny in Dunleer.
And in the TG4 Leinster IFC quarter-finals, Wicklow stunned defending champions Meath and claimed a 2-17 to 2-15 victory at Roundwood to oust last year's winners. Sarah Hogan's goal in the first-half set Wicklow on their way, while Claire Walsh wrapped up the win despute Stacey Grimes and a Marian Farrelly goals for Meath.

Wexford survived a late Kildare comeback to book their spot in the semi-finals as Bernie Breen's early goal paved they way to victory, while Laois defeated Offaly on a 2-15 to 2-09 scoreline, but not before the Faithful County had fully tested their visitors in Tubber.
