Kilkenny captain James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick is expected to be recovered from the injury he picked up in last weekend's defeat of Cork to play for his club this Saturday.
Fitzpatrick needed to be carried off the playing field at Croke Park on a stretcher after picking up what looked to be a serious groin injury, but Cats selector Martin Fogarty is confident the Kilkenny skipper will be fit to line-out for Ballyhale Shamrocks against Tullaroan in a county league game tomorrow.
"Cha's made good progress from last Sunday, and he's feeling a lot better.
"He didn't train with his club this week but, but then a lot of other lads on the county panel would have done the same."
Cork's Tom Kenny is the player alleged to be involved in the incident which resulted in Fitzpatrick having to leave the field early, but Fogarty believes that no action should be taken against the Rebel by the GAA.
"Tom Kenny has a good track record as far as discipline goes.
"And you could see from his demeanour and the way he went over to 'Cha' immediately after the incident that there was no real malice there.
"In a situation like what happened last Sunday, I feel the GAA should leave it to the referee to decide what action to take against the player involved in an incident.
"Unless you have a really serious case, like where a player cuts another fella across the back of the head, I don't think any of the GAA committees should get involved and seek video evidence."
Nonetheless, Fitzpatrick's quick recovery will come as well come new to Brian Cody who will be preparing his side for an All-Ireland final next month against either Tipperary or Waterford as the two sides do battle this Sunday, August 17, to decide who gets a coveted place in the final.
