Mooncoin (Kilkenny) 1-16

Ratoath (Meath) 0-12

Eamon Hennebry's 24th minute goal proved decisive as Mooncoin wrote another glorious chapter in their history by trumping Ratoath in the Leinster club JHC final at Nowlan Park.

The 12-times Kilkenny senior champions looked to be in a spot of bother when the underdogs from Meath led by 0-7 to 0-5, but Hennebry's goal, followed by a Kevin Crowley point, turned the tide and enabled Mooncoin to take a 1-7 to 0-9 lead into the break.

The sides had been level six times in that opening half with Padraig O'Hanrahan accounting for 0-4 of the Ratoath tally and Gavin McGowan, Ciaran O'Hanrahan and county footballer Bryan McMahon also contributing to the scoring.

However, the south Kilkenny outfit gradually pulled away in the second half thanks to points from Alan Walsh, Ray Wall, Crowley, Paul Hennebry, Eamon Hennebry and Keith Kirwan.

If O'Loughlin Gaels triumph in tomorrow's Leinster club SHC final against Cuala, it will complete a clean sweep of provincial hurling titles for the Cats.
