Kilkenny and O'Loughlin Gaels legend Andy Comerford is confident that his former team mates can win a provincial title this weekend.

On Sunday, the Kilkenny champions take on Dublin counterparts Cuala in the Leinster club SHC final.

Comerford has been impressed by the new batch of players coming through at the St John's Park club.

The former Kilkenny star skippered the Cats to All-Ireland glory in 2002 and either side of this captained O'Loughlin Gaels to county titles and a provincial title in 2003.

He knows that Cuala will provide a stern test this weekend, as they bid to make up for last year's final defeat, but he is confident that the latest crew of O'Loughlin Gaels players, which includes his brother Martin can get over the line.

"The more games they are getting the more confident they are becoming. You can see the way they run on to the ball now. They don't stop to think," Comerford told the Kilkenny People.

"They just react; the decision making is coming easier to them. There is a good mixture of experienced lads who have been there before, and probably half the team is made up by the young lads.

"The nucleus of the team has been there maybe two years, but some are only there this year. For any team to be successful, you need young lads playing well."
