Former Dublin camogie manager and ex-Kilkenny hurler David Herity.

Kilkenny's five-time All-Ireland winning goalkeeper David Herity has been appointed as Dublin's new senior camogie manager.

The Dunnamaggin native's new role was confirmed by the Dublin camogie board last night (Wednesday) and he succeeds Shane O'Brien, who stepped down this past summer.

Herity was a member of O'Brien's backroom team, along with former Dublin hurling boss Michael O'Grady.

The now 33-year-old earned five Liam McCarthy Cups during a splendid career in the black and amber before announcing his retirement in 2014.

An official statement on the Dublin camogie Facebook page released the news, reading as follows:

"David Herity is Dublin Camogie's Senior Manager.

"David will be joined by Michael O'Grady, John Matthews and Sandra Tarr.

"David, a winner of five Senior All-Ireland medals with Kilkenny, retired from Intercounty hurling in November 2014.

"David plays hurling with his club Dunnamaggin and football with Kilmoganny.

"David was part of the Dublin senior management set up last year.

"Camogie followers in the capital will be delighted with the news of David's appointment.

"We wish David every success."
